Milford City Council Hears Options From D.O.T Personnel For Hwy 71 Through Town

(Milford)– Representatives of the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office in Sioux City presented some options Monday evening to the Milford City Council regarding Highway 71 through the city. Jessica Felix, District 3 engineer for the D.O.T, says the city could implement those in the shorter term as they continue to mull over whether or not to change the highway from four lanes to three…

Felix says should the city of Milford opt to convert the highway from four to three lanes, 2030 would likely be the earliest the change could be made…

Felix says some of the longer term options she outlined could still be implemented in the meantime, should the city decide to pursue them…

The city council Monday directed the city’s Infrastructure Committee to review the options and make a formal recommendation at the council’s next regular meeting. Councilman Shane Hoffman said he’d like to have discussions with West Okoboji and Arnolds Park prior to taking any action on converting the Highway through Milford from four lanes to three.
