U.S. Senator Joni Ernst Hears From Constituents In Milford

October 11, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– U.S. Senator Joni Ernst made several stops in the region today (Fri.), including a townhall event in Milford. Ernst commented on her opposition to eminent domain…

“I just don’t think that the government has the right to come in and tell people you have to give up your land for something that that landowner is not in support of.”

Ernst says, however, Congress shouldn’t get involved, saying it’s a local issue. On another matter, she reflected on the Hamas terror attack in Israel just days after the one year anniversary of what took place…

“October 7th was a hard day as we went through remembrance of those who were killed in Israel, the attacks by Hamas, backed by Iran, on Israel, the loss of over 1,200 individuals in that attack. Over 30 Americans were killed in that attack. We still have seven Americans that are being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. We know that three of them are deceased; we maybe have four Americans that are still alive, but we need to remember them and we need to continue fighting to get those Americans back home.”

Ernst also commented on continuing resolutions, another major topic during today’s (Fri.) townhall session…

“All the great folks here at the townhall meeting, they basically said we need to get back to regular order. We need to have a balanced budget. We need to watch what we’re spending, not spend it on illegal migrants, focus on the American citizen, on our veterans, on our elderly. Do it in the right way. But we have faced significant challenges in the United States Congress in getting back to regular order and making sure we are protecting our taxpayer dollars.”

In addition to Milford, Ernst also made stops today (Fri.) in Algona, Estherville, Sibley and Lester.
