Burn Ban Now In Effect For Emmet County

October 04, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– The list of counties in northwest Iowa implementing burn bans due to the extremely dry conditions continues to grow. A ban went into effect today (Friday) for Emmet county.

Emmet County Emergency Management Coordinator Travis Sheridan says he hopes the ban will be short lived, but he says that’s unlikely. Sheridan says it’s going to take a significant amount of moisture to bring conditions back to normal. He says the extended forecast doesn’t show much indication of that happening.

In addition to Emmet, burn bans are also in effect until further notice for Cherokee, Lyon, Osceola, Plymouth and Sioux counties of northwest Iowa.
