Red Flag Warning Issued For Portions Of Region Due To Very High Fire Danger

September 30, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Undated)– A high fire danger will be in place across the region today (Mon.). The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Lyon, Sioux and Plymouth counties in Iowa and Murray, Nobles and Rock counties in southwest Minnesota.

Forecasters say a combination of dry vegetation, low relative humidity, wind and abnormally warm temperatures for this time of year will combine to create the danger. They add that any open burning should be avoided as any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

The dry conditions are expected to continue for the foreseeable future as no rain is the forecast through the upcoming week.
