Summit Carbon Solutions Holds Public Meeting In Clay County On Proposed Phase 2 Of Pipeline Project

September 18, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– An informational meeting on the second phase of a carbon capture pipeline Summit Carbon Solutions is proposing to build in northwest Iowa was held Tuesday evening in Spencer. Jake Ketzner is a Government Relations spokesman for the company…

“This is the first opportunity for our company to visit with landowners on this section of pipeline for this evening. So statewide, to date, Summit Carbon has signed roughly 75 percent of the landowners up for voluntary easements on the phase one portion, and this begins the process on the phase two portion.”

One landowner who was at the meeting told news partner KTIV she has deep concerns over the proposed pipeline…

“We have seen what happened in Mississippi. Luckily no one was killed, but this is going to happen. They can’t run this many miles of pipeline without having an incident. I want my grandkids to come out to the farm and play.”

Similar informational meetings for the second phase of the proposed pipeline are planned for Osceola and O’Brien counties in coming days.
