Intersection On SE Side Of Lake Park Will Become A 4-Way Stop Permanently

(Lake Park)– The intersection of 140th Street and 140th Avenue on the southeast side of Lake Park will now be a permanent four-way stop. East-west traffic at that intersection had previously been uncontrolled. Dickinson County Supervisors approved the change at their meeting this (Tues.) morning. A temporary four-way stop was in place at that intersection while traffic was being detoured through it area earlier this summer. County Engineer Cole Budach told the supervisors he was contacted by city officials requesting the 4-way stop be made permanent…

“It does make a lot of sense. The east-west traffic, there’s about 150 vehicles average per day and the north-south is 600, so we’re stopping traffic on the road that has four times as much traffic. Typically it’s not good practice to remove stop signs, so making this a 4-way to control the lower traffic makes a lot of sense.”

The intersection lies just outside of city limits, giving the county the authority to make the change.
