Wednesday Is First Responders & Disability Awareness Day At Clay County Fair

September 10, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Wednesday the Clay County Fair will be honoring First Responders. Fair CEO/General Manager Jerome Hertel…

“Another opportunity we take to kind of honor all those first responders. They get a discounted gate admission coming into the fair. It’s also Disability Awareness Day. Those individuals will be able to come into the fair for free and enjoy some great activities. The carnival opens up early for them, it gives them an opportunity to go enjoy some of those rides and stuff. And then we have races going on and of course it’s kind of become a tradition at the fair, two nights of racing.”

There will also be a K-9 demonstration by the Iowa State Patrol in Central Park beginning at 12:30 pm. The IMCA Blue Ribbon Showdown is Wednesday evening’s featured grandstand entertainment as Hertel mentioned, with hotlaps getting underway at 7:00 pm.
