(Wahpeton)– The Wahpeton City Council has a new member. The council voted unanimously Monday evening to appoint Merlyn Kruger to a seat that was left vacant last month with the resignation of Harold Prior. Drew Hage had also expressed interest in the seat.
The council also Monday evening approved entering a new contract for services with the Milford Library. The city’s contribution would increase considerably from what it had been paying previously. The motion for the new contract is contingent upon the library board accepting a proposal from the city for the increase to be phased in over a period of four to five years. The city’s cost under a new agreement will amount to a little more than $21,000 a year. The city is requesting its allocation be gradually ramped up for budget reasons.
The council took the action with an October 1st deadline for a new agreement looming. They’re hoping that deadline can be extended as negotiations get underway for a new 28E agreement.
