(Spencer)– A de-briefing of city officials in Spencer on this summer’s flood should be completed later this month. Deputy City Manager Kevin Robinson says it will focus on observations on the city’s response to the disaster along with outcomes and implementations. He says it will consist of interviews with city officials, council members and those who played a critical role during the disaster and into the recovery…
“What did we witness, what did we do, what occurred in the build up, what occurred in the response, what could we have done better, what did we do well, observationally-based. Then outcomes will come from the observations in a write-up. We’ll do a request for qualifications on the planning of how we handled those outcomes and then those will lead to implementation. So what you’ll see is a comprehensive overview of not only flood planning, disaster response, whether it’s flood, tornado, just emergency response in general, how that looks, and then the mitigation side of things, but also a comprehensive study of our sewer plant system, our storm system, how everything fits together.”
Robinson told the council his original goal was to have the de-briefing completed around Labor Day, but he says that had to be pushed back due to a number of factors.
