An Updated Hazard Mitigation Plan Is In The Books For Emmet County

August 23, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– Emmet county has updated its hazard mitigation plan. Emergency Managment Coordinator Travis Sheridan…

“All of the cities and the schools participate in this plan. This plan cost around $33,000 to put together and finalize. Federal grants cover $30,000 of that. We’re on a hard deadline of September 30th to get this thing completed and submitted.”

Sheridan says part of that plan includes updating warning sirens in Estherville. He says they’ll also be making some updates already to the new plan as a result of the June flood. Sheridan says they’ve identified some electrical transfer boxes that need to be moved out of flood prone areas.

The Estherville City Council Monday adopted a resolution approving the plan.
