Bid Dates Set For Osceola County Jail Project

August 23, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Sibley)– A bid letting on an addition and remodeling of the Osceola county jail is scheduled for October. Voters approved a $5 million bond issue for the project last November. Osceola County Sheriff Kevin Wollmuth says the project will address some safety issues…

“It’s for safety reasons for the dispatchers and the jailers and the deputy jailers. And also safety reasons for the inmates. We’re going to eliminate all stairs. Everything’s going to be on one level.”

Wollmuth says designs are currently being finalized, with plans and specifications to be received on September 13th. He says plans will be printed and distributed the week of September 16th with bids due from contractors on October 17th. Recommendations for a bid award will be presented to the Osceola County Board of Supervisors October 22nd.
