August 14, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– Work on what’s scheduled to be the final phase of the Highway 71 project through the lakes corridor is scheduled to get underway the day after this coming Labor Day. Blain Andera, CEO of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, says a public informational meeting is set for next week…

“It’s Wednesday, August 21st, at 5:30 pm at Arnolds Park Pavilion. Construction is slated to start on Tuesday after Labor Day, so Tuesday, September 3rd. Everybody’s invited to this, it’s just a public meeting and the D.O.T will give an update on the project and what’s going to be affected this year, so.”

Pretty much all of the work for this phase will be taking place in Arnolds Park. It will include removal and replacement of pavement on the southbound lane from about Ackley Street to Lake Street. Crews will also finish installing traffic signals at the intersection with Linden Drive.

Depending upon the weather, crews may be returning once the weather allows in the spring for some final touch up work.
