(Spirit Lake)-There are a couple of Blood Drives coming up in Dickinson County. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
LifeServe Blood Center is holding two Blood Drives next week in the Lakes Area.
Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator Rebekah Armstrong says it’s a good idea to make an appointment in advance. “We have Spirit Lake on August 20th from 1 to 6, and that’s going to be at The Dickinson County Community Building, and then we also have Milford Community, which is August 23rd from 9:30 to 2 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. It’s always a really good idea to make an appointment online just to make sure that you can get in and get out. Sometimes if you just walk on in, you will experience more of a wait time depending on who’s above you in that appointment list. So, if you want to get in and get out, I would encourage you to make an appointment. They can go to lifeservebloodcenter.org to make that appointment or call 800-287-4903.
She adds that there is currently a blood shortage. “In the summer months we typically decrease and have a challenge with getting people to come out and donate just because people are busy and things like that, but, with the recent weather, it’s even made it more difficult than ever with the flooding and tornadoes, especially in the Midwest right now, too. So, it’s really important to give blood right now.”
