(Spirit Lake)– Work continues on a couple of major road projects in the area. Dickinson County Engineer Cole Budach says mainline paving on County Road M-27 from Highway 9 into Lake Park is starting to wind down with primarily some handwork left to be done. Following that, he says they’ll just be left with a few finishing touches…
“Sub drains are left on there at a couple of portions. That will just better help drain water out of the soil. And then we have shouldering, so we’ll come in with some dirt to build up to the road and then go in with a granular to go along the edge of the road and then we have seeding to follow that. Then that project will be finished up. I think probably by the end of this month we’ll be pretty well wrapped up there.”
Work also continues on a pavement removal and replacement project on the south side of Center Lake. Budach says weather permitting, paving will start there in another day or so…
“Anticipating that will take possibly into next week with the paving operation. So we’ll start with, we’re going to do one lane at a time instead of full width paving so that we can accommodate access in there as much as possible. There will be some temporary access restrictions to the residents as we pave across their properties and stuff like that, but we’ll be looking to restore access by the end of the day each day of the paving operation. I would anticipate that we’d be wrapping up the paving out there on Center Lake sometime next week, and then we’ll again have basically the same operation that we have left out at M-27 where we’re going to go back in and place the shoulder and material and get stuff seeded down.”
And even though it isn’t entirely a county project, we also have an update on the 13th Street, or County Road A-34 project in Milford. Officials say the intersection at 213th Avenue at the west city limits will be closed beginning Monday, August 19th at 3:00 pm. The closure is expected to remain in place about four weeks. That project is tentatively scheduled for completion in November, weather permitting.
