(Alton)-A Hartley woman has been arrested on felony contraband charges after her arrest in Alton.
According to a criminal complaint in Sioux County, 43-year-old Karmen Pace of Hartley is accused of marijuana possession, OWI, and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. She was arrested this past weekend.
In a statement, a Sioux County Deputy says Pace was stopped when the deputy thought she was driving erratically. He says she failed field sobriety tests and a drug recognition expert believes she was under the influence of methamphetamine. The deputy also says Pace admitted to recently using meth. After she was arrested and inside the Sioux County Jail, she was also allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Pace was charged with possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a class D felony. If convicted, Pace could face up to five years in prison.
She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on August 20th.
Pace was booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, and was released on bond the next day.
