Dickinson County Recorder Says Her Office Continues To See A Lot Of Traffic For Passports

April 12, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Itineraries for a lot of people traveling are taking them abroad. Dickinson County Recorder Ann Ditsworth says her office continues to see a pretty high volume of people applying for passports…

“Our additional service of photos has been very well received by our customers, so we’re glad to have that in our office. U.S. Department of State reports the timeline for efficiency for how fast or how long it takes to get your passport back once it’s sent in, six to eight weeks is a standard request. We process it the same day it comes in and it goes out in the mail, but their turn around is six to eight weeks. And if someone needs it urgently, they have travel plans that are closer to that, maybe they waited too long, or maybe something just came up, they can pay for overnighting fees and things like that, and then it gets in from two to three weeks for turn around.”

She says those who have even more immediate needs go to a regional passport processing facility. The one closest to us is in Minneapolis.
