Dickinson Co. Supervisors Approve Resignation Agreement With County Attorney

December 13, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today voted unanimously to accept a resignation agreement with County Attorney Amy Zenor. Supervisor Chairman Bill Leupold wished Zenor the best as she moves on with her personal life…

“It’s somewhat sad to do this but it’s understandable and I wish Ms. Zenor all the best in the world from now on. I hope her future is bright.”

Leupold outlined what will happen from here when it comes to finding a replacement for the County Attorney…

“To my knowledge we will now have a choice whether to hold an election or to appoint a County Attorney, and I believe we will be doing that in the coming weeks.”

Leupold says Assistant County Attorney Steve Goodlow has assumed the reigns for the time being.

A copy of the resignation agreement made available to the media by the County Attorney’s Office states that Zenor’s resignation is effective at the end of the day January 2nd, 2023 and that her license to practice law in the state of Iowa has been voluntarily suspended. Terms call for the county to pay Zenor her regular salary through the effective date of her resignation with health insurance benefits continuing through March 31st, 2023 with the contributions being deducted from her paycheck.

In a consent filed with the Iowa Supreme Zenor requests her license be reinstated once she is able to show clear and convincing evidence that her disability has been removed and that she is fully qualified to resume the practice of law.

Zenor was charged with public intoxication after allegedly showing up at the Dickinson county courthouse last month intoxicated.
