More Changes May Be Coming To Arnolds Park’s Transient Merchants/Peddlers Ordinance

November 25, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– Some significant changes could be in the works for an ordinance regulating transient merchants and peddlers in the city of Arnolds Park. The city council Tuesday reviewed a list of proposed changes. Councilman Jim Jensen suggested that with the exception of things such as produce and flowers, the city do away with allowing items to be sold from trailers altogether…

“They’re not doing the town any favors. If they want to be in brick and mortar, that’s great. But I don’t see that trashing up our town with a whole bunch of food trucks and stuff like that is beneficial. There’s no other town up here that does it.”

Jensen added, however, he would be open to allowing them at special events that are permitted by the city. Fellow councilman Jason Christiansen said he has some concerns about doing away with trailers…

I just don’t know how you say like corn is okay and flowers are okay, but. I mean I guess we could but I just feel bad for somebody that’s been doing it for 27 years and now we’re going to say, well. I mean we’ve already moved him.”

The council Tuesday voted to set December 14th as the date for a public hearing on the proposed changes.
