(Spencer)– The Spencer City Council Monday evening approved plans and specifications for new traffic control devices on Grand Avenue from 1st Street to 7th Street. Public Works Director Mark White told the council the current system in that area has become obsolete…
“It will upgrade the system. It will ensure a better coordination with the timing. Also, some of the improvements that the public might appreciate, there will be fish eye cameras at the intersections along with the intersections that do not have countdown pads, the rest of them will have the countdown pads, you know, the numbers that countdown, in addition to push buttons. So that will be something that has been important to the downtown area where the pedestrian can call for a crossing. It’s an actuated, coordinated signals, timing systems, so it has the ability to flex to some of the traffic conditions so it uses later technology.”
The project will be funded through two grants the city received.
