(Arnolds Park)– Meeting in special session this (Monday) afternoon, the Arnolds Park City Council approved a changeorder for phase 3 of the Lakeview Boulevard project in the Pillsbury Point area. It increases the cost of the project by $15,927. An engineer says it’s due to a delay in the project that at one time was held up in legal proceedings, and the increase in the cost of materials since then.
The council also once again heard concerns over the project from neighbors. One said she’s concerned the work could alter the area which she says has some historical significance to it…
City officials contend the majority of the project is being designed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, as the area is a state park. They say the only role the city has is to act as a conduit to channel funds for the project, some of which is being paid for by Imagine Iowa Great Lakes.
Another resident expressed concern over a hiking trail that was constructed past his home during the first two phases of the project, saying bicycle and e-bike traffic is making it dangerous…
The council took no action on that request but did seem open to reviewing the signage once the final phase of the overall project is completed.
