(Okoboji)– A West Okoboji man was seriously injured today (Thurs.) after being struck by a vehicle in the Dickinson County Bike Trail crossing in the area of Stakeout Road and Exchange Street in Okoboji.
Okoboji police say 73-year-old Ardyce Rowe of Spirit Lake was driving a 2020 Mazda westbound on Stakeout Road and James Ladegaard of West Okoboji was in the trail crossing when the two collided. Ladegaard was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries. He was later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Police say the mishap took place around 11:10 am and remains under investigation. It resulted in the road in that area being closed for quite some time.
The Spirit Lake Police Department, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue, Dickinson County Emergency Management and Okoboji Public Works assisted on the scene.
