(Spirit Lake)– A Spencer man was seriously injured late Thursday afternoon in a single vehicle crash on the northeast side of Big Spirit Lake. The Iowa State Patrol says 70-year-old Robert Barber of Spencer lost control of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado while traveling eastbound in the area of 1237 260th Avenue. Troopers say the vehicle left the road, went into the ditch and collided with a utility pole.
Barber was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
Authorities say the crash, which took place shortly after 4:30 pm, is still under investigation and that additional information is likely to come in the future.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and the Spirit Lake Fire Department assisted on the scene.
