Okoboji City Council Sets Public Hearing On Proposed Revision In Zoning Regs. For Campgrounds

July 14, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Okoboji)– The Planning and Zoning Commission for the city of Okoboji has put forth a recommendation to the city council that would result in some additional hoops to jump through for anyone planning to develop a campground or R-V park in a commercially zoned area of the city. City Administrator Michael Meyers outlined the recommendation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting…

“The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended this unanimously for approval to move visitor habitation campgrounds from a permissible permitted use in a commercial zoning district to a conditional use.”

The city council Tuesday set August 1st as the date for a special meeting to hold a public hearing on the proposed change, saying they want the matter expedited. That’s the earliest the council could hold the meeting and still meet the necessary requirements for public notice of the hearing.
