More Improvements Coming To Wildcat Stadium

July 14, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– Some more improvements are in the works for what’s become an iconic baseball field in Arnolds Park. The City Council Wednesday evening awarded a bid for the second phase of renovations at Wildcat Stadium. Councilman John Adams, Sr. has been spearheading the project. He says this phase will include construction of a walking trail…

“It will go from by our concession stand down around left field, out around center field and back. And along that walk will be, this year, this part of it, will be a walk where there will be books along there that people can read. Our librarian, Cara Rice, has done a tremendous job on this. And then there will be an area there, a construction more for of a, basically a picnic area and so on. We’re trying to make this whole city block just a really neat project. It’s gone so well for us for four years.”

Adams says Wildcat stadium has been extremely busy this season with multiple little league games and tournaments. And he says they’ve been thrilled with comments they’ve been getting from out of town teams…

“Now in September, we’ll have another fall baseball league that a gentleman from Sioux City sets up and they have weekend games there. And several years ago one of the people who helped on that little league, bringing the league in, had pitched for the Montreal Expos. He made the comment to us that this was one of the best little league parks that he’d seen, so that meant a lot to us.”

Work on the second phase will get underway following Labor Day.
