(Lakefield, Mn.)– Two people from Spirit Lake were seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening on Highway 86 a few miles north of the Iowa-Minnesota border.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 85-year-old Duane Kiner of Spirit Lake was driving a 1992 Honda southbound on Highway 86 when it left the road and went into the ditch at 715th Street. Kiner and a passenger, 85-year-old Phyllis Thurman of Spirit Lake sustained what’s described as life threatening injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare and were transferred to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
The Lakefield Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakefield ambulance and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance assisted on the scene.
The mishap took place around 6:30 pm.
