(Arnolds Park)-It’s the U of O Homecoming this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber will host the University of Okoboji Homecoming Races on Saturday.
CEO Blain Andera says, hundreds of runners are expected. “We’re going to be looking at between 650-700 runners that are going to be participating in the Half Marathon or the 10K or the Triathlon, Team Triathlon, and then we added a 5 K this year so, that’s been really popular with the families and we’re excited about that. You can go to okobojichamber.com and click on the events tab and you can register right online. Registration goes until Thursday. For the Half Marathon, both male and female winner, we’ve got a $500 cash prize, and for the 10K and the Triathlon winners, both male and female, we’ve got $300 cash prizes so, looking to get some elite runners, and we’ve got people from 18 different states.”
He notes that volunteers are still needed to help with the races. “If anybody has a couple of hours on Saturday morning that they’d like to get involved in the community or help out The Chamber with this event, you can give Blain, Kiley or Morgan a call at The Chamber, (712) 332-2107.”
