(Spirit Lake)– A sentencing date has been set for a woman found guilty in the December 2020 death of Angel Bastman of Lake Park. A judge found Allison Decker guilty of murder in the 1st degree, theft in the 2nd degree and conspiracy to commit theft following a bench trial that was held in May.
Decker is scheduled to be sentenced July 29th in Dickinson County District Court. She faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
Another person charged in Bastman’s death, Justice Berntson, pled guilty to a reduced charge of attempted murder as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to a term not to exceed 25 years in prison. He’ll be eligible for work release and parole once 70 percent of the sentence is served. Berntson was also ordered to pay restitution.
