(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for four counties hard hit by Tuesday’s severe weather. Emmet and O’Brien counties are among them.
The designation allows state resources to be utilized to assist in clean up and recovery. It also activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for qualifying residents, along with the Disaster Case Management Program.
The Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level for a family of three. They can be used for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and temporary housing expenses. More information can be found at the Iowa Department of Human Services’ website.
The Disaster Case Management Program addresses needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse conditions. More information on that program can be found at Iowa Community Action-dot-org.
