(Rock Valley)– Authorities in Sioux county investigated a drowning on the 4th of July.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says crews responded to a 911 call of a drowning at a pond north of Rock Valley. They say a man had been swimming in the pond when he went under and didn’t resurface. Bystanders and emergency crews located the man and removed him from the water. Life-saving measures were attempted. The man was airlifted from the scene to a Sioux Falls hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The name of the victim hasn’t been released pending notification of relatives.
Authorities were called to the scene a little before 4:00 pm.
