(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College has been awarded federal funding for its TRIO/Upward Bound programs. The funding from the U.S. Department of Education will allow the college to continue to provide the programs an additional five years.
The TRIO program serves 60 students in grades 9-12 attending Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Spencer and North Union High Schools. The program supports the successful completion of high school and assists with college exploration and enrollment. The services are provided free to participants.
Upward-bound offers a six-week residential summer academy for high school students. It’s held at the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
