(Sioux City)– A Le Mars man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison on firearms charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 46-year-old Jason Blau was sentenced last week after having pled guilty in February of last year to being a drug user in possession of firearms and providing a false statement to a federal firearms dealer.
Evidence presented at court hearings showed Blau was a daily user of methamphetamine and that a search warrant executed on his residence in January of 2021 turned up drug paraphernalia, meth, thousands of rounds of ammunition and 17 guns. Court documents indicate Blau had obtained the guns and ammunition from a convicted felon and was storing them for him, and that Blau had purchased two AR-15 rifles from that same person.
