(Okoboji)-The Okoboji Summer Theatre will open for the season next week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Okoboji Summer Theatre will open their 64th Season on Tuesday, June 28th.
Executive Director Ruth Ann Burke says, the season will feature several musicals. “Next week is our first production called Ken Ludwig’s Comedy of Tenors. Lots of professionals are featured in this cast. Comedy, music and a little something for everybody. We are doing four musicals throughout the course of the summer. The first one will be opening right after the 4th, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and then after that, our first mystery of the season, An Inspector Calls, which we’ve not done before. Our second musical this season is Purely Patsy Cline. We’re bringing in an Alum, Kelley Zinge. Following that we’re going to be doing our production of Bright Star, a new musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Starting August 2, it’s Painting Churches, and the we’ll close out our season with Legally Blonde.”
She adds that the Box Office is now open. “We are taking orders by email boxoffice@okobojisummertheatre.org and also, you can give us a call, 712.332.7773. We’re going to be opening all the windows so people can come on up, pick up their tickets that they’ve already ordered by email or phone. Our season ticket folks can come by and get their stuff, and we’ll be open from there forward.”
The Boji Bantam Children’s Theatre is set to open July 6.
