A Study Of Second Floors Of Buildings In Downtown Spencer Is Called Off

June 23, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– A study into the inventory of second floors of buildings in downtown Spencer is being scrapped. The city council earlier this week voted to rescind a $15,000 grant, of which the city would have been responsible for putting up a $5,000 match. Alek Schulz of the city’s Planning Office told council members they were unable to spur any interest among contractors…

“In conversation again with them they felt that the budget to go through the entire downtown second floor was not something they could meet as well as staffing that a lot of these firms had.”

Schulz added requests for proposals were put out two different times. He says the recommendation to call off the project was made after consulting with state officials.
