(Estherville)– Officials with the aviation program at Iowa Lakes Community College are sounding the alarm following an incident Tuesday evening in which one of its planes was targeted by a laser pointer.
A post on social media says the laser beam came from ground level and that officials are very confident it came from the area of the Ingham Lake campground, south of Estherville. The post goes on to state that targeting a plane with a laser pointer is a federal offense, and that federal officials have been notified of the incident. Officials say a similar incident took place about a year ago in the Spencer area.
Anyone with information into the latest incident is being asked to contact authorities.
