Humane Society of Northwest Iowa to hold Wags & Whiskers in the Park June 22

June 16, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Arnolds Park)-A fundraiser for the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa next week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa will hold their Wags & Whiskers in the Park on Wednesday, June 22.

Board Member Marcy Bosch says the event is an important fundraiser for the shelter. “It’s really meant to be a night to celebrate all of our staff, all of our volunteers, all the animals that we take care of and really, to celebrate everyone who comes and everyone who has ever adopted. It’s a great way to get to learn about the Humane Society. It takes about $300,000 annually to keep the shelter in order, and at any given time we have about 75 cats or 12 dogs on hand.”

She adds that the evening will feature live and silent auctions. “At 5 o’clock, we’ll have a happy hour. There’ll be some music, we’ll play a few games. There will be a nice meal served, and in addition we have a silent auction and we have a live auction this year. We have some really great packages. We have a golf package to over 7 area courses and we have a Blackstone Grill. We also a wonderful couple who donated an hour flight for people to see Okoboji from above, and we also have Iowa State tickets as well as Viking tickets, and so I just really encourage everyone to come out. There’s a little something for everyone.”

Wags & Whiskers will be held at the Roof Garden Ballroom.
