Clay County Traffic Stop Lands Three In Jail On Drug Charges

(Spencer)– A traffic stop June 9th on Highway 71 in Clay county resulted in the arrests of three people from Omaha on drug charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle around 8:00 pm that evening and smelled marijuana as he approached it. The deputy discovered drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the vehicle.

Two passengers, Edwin Rodriguez-Morales and Uriel Ontiveros-Monarrez, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; minor in possession of tobacco and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver, 20-year-old Jackeline Mejia-Lorenzo, was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana, speeding, no drivers license, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with official acts.

All three were booked into jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
