(Arnolds Park)– It will be awhile yet before street lights are installed along the newly revamped Lake Street in Arnolds Park. Meeting in special session this (Tues.) afternoon, city council members were informed the lights won’t be shipped until June 3rd. Arnolds Park Amusement Park CEO John Pausley said installation of festoon lights over the street is underway and should hopefully be completed by this weekend.
Discussion then turned to whether or not requests to turn off the main street lights should be granted for special events. Councilman Jim Jensen expressed some reservations about that…
The council did grant permission, however, for the installation of a switch so they can see the difference in levels between the festoon lights and the actual street lights, once they’re installed and operational.
In other business, the council today (Tues.) adopted ordinance amendments pertaining to enforcement of the city’s nuisance laws. Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Munson says the changes are a result of the city contracting with the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission to enforce the ordinances…
Munson adds it also applies to dangerous and dilapidated structures in the city.
