(Okoboji)-The Okoboji Summer Theatre Association will hold a Waffle Brunch on Sunday. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Okoboji Summer Theatre Association will host a brunch featuring Dad’s Belgian Waffles on Sunday morning.
Association President John Barrow says, proceeds from the fundraiser will help students in residence at the Theatre this summer. “We do fundraisers at various times, and the fundraisers basically are turned back to the students in different ways. The Waffle Brunch we’re having this coming Sunday, the money we raise at that one, will be used for scholarships for the students. We put on a couple of events for them when we have the Welcome Picnic and then, at the end of the season we do a Finale Party, but any of the money that we raise at any point is turned back to the students in some form or other.”
He notes that tours of the OST Campus will be offered during the event. “We have the student housing, the tiny houses that they have out there for the students to live in. They’ll also look at things like the Green Room and the Rehearsal Room, go backstage and see all the stuff they keep back there. I’m hoping they’ll go into the Prop Room and see some of the props that they have for the different productions. You will see what they refer to as a Ghost Light, which is always on the stage when there’s no production going on.”
The Waffle Fundraiser will run from 8:30 to 12:30 on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults, children 5 and under $5.
