People for Pets seeking Donations during busy Spring Season

(Spencer)-

A regional animal shelter is seeking donations at this time. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Spring is the season when area shelters see a huge influx of cats, which can strain the resources of the shelter.
Jen Johnson-Ross, a Volunteer with People for Pets in Spencer, explains. “We’re fast approaching June, and June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month because all of the area shelters are so overwhelmed with cats and kittens this time of year because, guess what? People aren’t spaying and neutering. So, contact People for Pets, we’ll hook you up with a Vet and make sure you get your animals fixed.”
She adds that many pets are available for adoption, and notes that the shelter is in need of supplies at this time. “If you can’t adopt at the moment or you can’t foster a pet, we also need your help with donating with list items. For instance, People for Pets, we’re running very low on paper towels, and we also need KMR, which is Kitten Milk Replacer. When we have animals coming in in various states of abuse and neglect, we’re seeking that especially with the kittens, so the kittens need to be bottle fed. If you want to make a cash donation, right now our Veterinary bills are through the roof because we are seeking so many animals coming to us. They’ve been hit by cars, they’re sick, they’re orphaned or they’re injured, you name it, and any bit helps. We are a 501c3 organization, so your donations are tax-deductible.”
