Assault Investigation Results In Several Arrests

May 16, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Sheldon)– Several people face charges following an investigation Friday into an assault at a residence in Sheldon. Police say the male victim had been assaulted with a crowbar and had visible injuries.

Authorities responded to the residence and found Melea Speelmon hiding there. Police say Speelmon was wanted on warrants. While there, officers saw drug paraphernalia, resulting in them obtaining and executing a search warrant on the residence. 41-year-old Nathan Schuknecht was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Speelmon was arrested on the warrant and was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

As police were conducting surveillance on the residence, they noticed a suspect in the assault, 40-year-old Sheila Sundall, return. She was arrested and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of contraband in a correctional facility.

Sheldon police were assisted in the investigation by the O’brien County Sheriff’s Office.
