10 Tagged Fish Still At Large Following Walleye Weekend

May 09, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– No tagged fish were caught during Walleye Weekend this past weekend. Those who registered in the extended contest remain eligible for some nice prizes should they happen to snag one of the specially tagged 10 fish. Kylie Zankowski of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says this year’s event again drew a lot of people to the area…

“We had just over 2,000 anglers from over 16 different states, so we were really excited to welcome them all here to the Iowa Great Lakes for a very windy but warm weekend. Fishing was a little tough but there were some great heaviest fish category winners and we are just excited to kick off another angling season this summer.”

In the heaviest stringer of Bullhead category, 1st place went to Ben Andrews of Dunkum, IA with 17.22lbs. For the heaviest Northern Pike, 1st place went to Josh Sundall of Tea, SD with 12.9lbs and 38” of total length. For the heaviest stringer of Panfish, 1st place went to Connor Creegen of Jackson, MN with 7.39lbs. In the heaviest stringer of Walleye (under 19”) category, 1st place and the Charlie Shuck memorial award went to Mark McAlpine of Bozeman, MT with 6.88lbs.
