May 02, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Primghar)– Multiple injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision Sunday near Sheldon.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Justin Van Grootheest of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Northwest Boulevard and 40-year-old Evan Anema of Sioux Falls was driving a 2011 GMC Yukon westbound on 280th Street. Authorities say Anema had stopped at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Van Grootheest.

Van Grootheest, 27-year-old Megan Van Grootheest, and two children were injured. They were taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital. Anema, along with a passenger, 41-year-old Heather Anema, and four children in that vehicle, were also taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital. All of the injuries were said to be minor with the exception of Heather Anema. Her injuries were said to be possibly serious.

Evan Anema was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
