Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Checks & Writing Them To Himself

(Orange City)– A northwest Iowa man was arrested Wednesday on charges connected with the alleged theft of some checks. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Austin Vink is accused of stealing checks from various locations while he was employed with a cleaning service. An investigation was initiated earlier this month when a bank reported suspicious activity on the accounts of two customers. Vink is accused of writing the stolen checks to himself, totaling a little more than $6,000. He’s also accused of stealing cash from one of the victims. Vink was booked into jail on two counts of forgery, two counts of felony theft and one count of misdemeanor theft.
