(Okoboji)-Family Nature Night falls on Earth Day this month. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center’s Family Nature Night will feature an Earth Day theme on Friday evening.
Environmental Education Coordinator Bryanna Kuhlman says, activities will depend on the weather. “If the weather is cooperating, we do plan to go outside and talk about how we can help the earth. Maybe do a trash pick up, throw some seed balls into the prairie, just to help beautify it, and then do a recycled craft. So, using recycled materials to take home if the weather cooperates. If the weather does not cooperate, we still plan to do the recycled craft, but we’ll bring it indoors and talk about ways that families can protect the environment, and I think they’re going to make posters that we’ll be able to hang up at the Nature Center to make people aware of how they can help the environment.”
She notes that the program is free, however registration is requested. “It is a free program but we ask that you go online to our website and find our registration link and register for the program. That’s just so we can have a head count to make sure we have enough materials for everyone so that everyone can participate effectively and be engaged the whole time.”
Family Nature Night starts at 5 o’clock on the 4th Friday of the month.
