(Milford)– No injuries were reported Easter Sunday in a house fire west of Wahpeton.
The Milford Fire Department was called to 1960 170th Avenue around 3:00 pm after getting a report of an attic fire. A deputy arrived on the scene prior to firefighters getting there and reported the homeowner had most of the fire put out with some fire extinguishers. Upon arriving, firefighters entered the attic and found smoldering embers in some joists. Firefighters removed smoldering embers and insulation using buckets and tarps. Several ceiling joists that were charred were also cut out.
There was no immediate word on a possible cause.
Firefighters were on the scene about three hours. They were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative and several neighbors.
