Northwest Iowa Man Sentenced On Federal Drug Charge

(Sioux City)– A Sutherland man has been sentenced to a little more than seven years in prison on a federal drug charge. 33-year-old Dustin Martinez pled guilty in October of last year to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Martinez had been previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in June, 2016 in U.S. District Court. Martinez was placed on supervised release for that offense beginning on January 16th, 2016.

The case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Spencer Police Department, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa DCI Laboratory.
