(Sioux City)– A Sheldon man has pled guilty to a federal firearm charge.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 40-year-old Clinton Kreykes entered the plea Wednesday to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Kreykes admitted at a plea hearing he had been previously convicted of burglary in the 3rd degree and was a methamphetamine user, prohibiting him from owning a firearm.
Evidence showed that on September 16th, 2021, as part of Kreykes’ probation conditions, a compliance check was done of his camper in Sibley. The probation officer found drug paraphernalia and Kreykes was arrested. A search warrant was then obtained and executed on the camper resulting in authorities finding prescription pills, a small baggy of methamphetamine, a 20-gauge shotgun, shotgun shells and additional items related to drug use.
Sentencing is pending completion of a presentence report.
