(Ireton)– Minor injuries were reported in a crash late Monday afternoon involving a school bus in Sioux county.
Authorities say 74-year-old Robert Van Gelder of Alton was driving a 2016 school bus owned by Unity Christian High School westbound on a county road and a 16-year-old was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger eastbound. Deputies say Van Gelder crossed the center line and collided with the pickup, which went into the ditch. The bus came to rest on its side in a field.
A 17-year-old passenger on the bus sustained minor injuries but declined immediate treatment. The driver of the pickup and two passengers in that vehicle were taken by ambulance to the Hawarden hospital.
Van Gelder was cited for failure to maintain proper lane.
