(Okoboji)– The Okoboji City Council Tuesday evening voted to adopt the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The action followed a public hearing that drew no comment. City Administrator Michael Meyers says it keeps the levy the same as it’s been the past several years now…
“For fiscal year 2023 which runs July 1 ’23 through June 30th ’24, we’re looking at a levy of $4.75 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. That’s the same level that the city of Okoboji has had for the past several years. Some of the major projects that we’re looking at, we’re looking at a substantial investment to Speier Park in Okoboji as well as potentially a drainage project along Holiday Way, some benefits for our public works staff, a new vehicle, some other odds and ends. But those are kind of the major ones, especially that one in Speier Park.”
Meyers says the continued increase in property values in the city has played a significant role in their ability to keep the levy rate stable.
