(Spencer)- t’s Family Fest in Spencer this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Clay County Fair and Events Center will host the 11th Annual Family Fest on Saturday.
CEO Jeremy Parsons says the event is free and open to the public. “It’s the opportunity to just spend time with your family. So, bring your kids and grandkids out. It’s educational, hands-on activities. The YMCA Kid Zone, 4-H Find out Day, local nonprofit displays, food, musicians. Phil Baker, who really focuses on kid’s music, and then an activity stage. It’s just a full day of activities to give families the opportunity to spend time together.”
He notes that Safety City is one of the highlights of the festival. “That’s where, of course, you’ll be able to see a fire truck and be able to see a police car and an ambulance, and even this year, the City of Spencer has a brand new garbage truck that’s never been used. So, just the opportunity to get up and close with different equipment and then, on our stage, The Dickinson County Conservation will be doing some demonstrations about animals. Just really something for everybody.”
Family Fest will run from 9-2 on Saturday.
